What SSCI Provides
SSCI’s experience in regulatory permitting under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act is based on a thorough understanding of the CWA and the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) permitting process. Wetlands services include regulatory reviews, desktop evaluations, field surveys, delineations, jurisdictional determinations, Section 10 and 404 permitting and mitigation planning. Federal-specific and state-specific wetlands and water bodies regulations are incorporated into SSCI’s project planning in order to provide our clients with pre-project consulting, wetlands and waters surveys, project permitting and post-project mitigation planning and monitoring

Why a Permit is Important
Wetlands are protected by the Clean Water Act of 1972 and are not fillable without a permit and prohibits the discharge of materials without a permit. The permit program for discharges of fill material is under the Section 404 and is administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and authorized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This act applies to “navigable waters”, defined as “Wetlands/Waters of the U.S.” (WOTUS). Once signed off by the USACE and EPA, the wetland delineation report and permits are valid for 5 years!
