TDPS Facility – Houston

Project name and location:

Assessment of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) and mold infestation, oversight of the preparation of abatement and removal specifications, project management of remediation and air monitoring, plus coordination of all reporting for repair and restoration of Texas Department of Public Safety Driver’s License Facility, 4545 Dacoma, Houston, TX.

Project description:

SSCI was retained by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TDPS) to conduct asbestos surveys, indoor air assessments, and mold infestation surveys in response to the discovery of water damage at the TDPS Dacoma Facility in Houston.  SSCI completed these services, and managed preparation of  specifications for abatement of the conditions found.

Once TDPS selected a contractor, SSCI provided project management and oversight for activities such as air monitoring, and verification of abatement during the contractor operations and reporting.  This project was unusual in that the work had to be completed quickly, and a high-temperature mold infestation abatement procedure was required because of mold discovered growing behind an outer wall of the building.

Client:

Texas Department of Public Safety
