Project name and location:

Removal of Underground Storage Tank, University of Houston, Parking Lot 20B, 4763 Calhoun, Houston, TX.

Project description:

SSCI was retained by Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. on behalf of the University of Houston to conduct underground storage tank removal and soil sampling for a ghost underground storage tank (UST) discovered during construction activities associated with the Parking Lot 20B renovation project.  SSCI used the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) PST data base to identify PST facilities recorded for the Site address (4763 Calhoun) and found that Stop N Go No. 2376 was formerly on or near the Site.  The Former Stop N Go is identified as LPST No. 107378, and Facility No. 0000670 and the case was closed as of 7/9/02.

SSCI completed all construction and professional services required for removal and disposal of the UST system (contents, tank, and piping), including excavation and disposal, soil sampling and analysis and reporting in accordance with TCEQ requirements.  SSCI mobilized quickly, completed the scope of work and completed regulatory closure of the discovered UST facility in less than 20 days, thereby avoiding delay of the construction project.
